I liked Thompson’s ad, it seemed sincere, Romney’s ad rubs me the wrong way though. Romney comes off as cocky.

Just because the government can’t decide what to do about illegal immigration doesn’t mean the rest of us can’t. I can’t say that I am surprised that the numbers of minutemen have gone up, and not just in places along the Mexican border.
I am not sure if anyone else saw it, but MTV had a special on a couple months ago that followed the experience of one man who decided to joint he minutemen and patrol a small area for the first time. People from all walks of life are signing up, and all of them say they are doing it because they are American.
I am embarrassed to say that I am a Biology major and I never considered the environmental impacts the border wall would create in the South. I guess when you are dealing with an issue like immigration, things like the environment take a back seat.
At least that’s what I get from reading this piece on the negative effects of the Border wall and why environmental groups are sitting by idly.
I read this headline this morning and I almost spit out my coffee. I know France just passed legislation concerning immigration and DNA testing earlier this month, but here?
Just thinking back to all my college seminar debates that had to do with DNA testing and the pharmeceutical, moral, and abuse issues that came along with it has me cringing about what Tancrendo’s proposal is going to bring out.
Hernandez and other deputies found themselves thrown around in the immigration debate last year, but now Hernandez is free.
If you are not familiar with the story, you can read the article about his release and how he ended up in prison here.
I remember when it happened a year ago, and I still have the same feelings and thoughts on it. I don’t think Hernandez should have shot at the vehicle the way he did, it was reported that he shot at the car when it was speeding away from him.
Take out the fact that there were illegal immigrants and lets replace them with the title people. Hernandez saw there were people in the car. He shot at the car, into the windows as it was speeding away from him, not at him- and he was never shot at.
If this happened anywhere else, with anyone else you know people would be demanding answers, calling for his head and lawsuits would have been filed by everyone in the car by morning. Instead this was turned into an immigration issue.
In my opinion Hernandez was wrong. You don’t shoot at unarmed people, especially when they are running away from you. That is not why we arm our officers.
I guess I didn’t realize how much easier it has become for folks to reach the United States border. After reading Enrique’s Journey I guess my mind was just filled with images of people clinging to trains and busses and getting here anyway they could. I am sure there are plenty of them that still take that route, but it looks like there are even more getting to the border by plane.
Mexico has added several new discount airlines that fly migrants to the border by the planeful.
