Dream Act Blocked

October 26, 2007

Well, it is official the bill failed to get passed onto the Sentae by six votes I believe.  I think I have said everything I wanted to say on this matter, maybe not on here but everything has been said.

I don’t think it would have encourage more illegal immigration but I do think it would have given the children who are caught in the middle a place and a fair chance.

Here’s a link to Reuters if you want to read about it.

Thoughts on the Dream Act

October 10, 2007

I’m sure everyone has heard plenty about the Dream Act in the past month.  I’ve had my own thoughts about it set in stone for the last couple years, since I first learned about it.  Really haven’t given it a second thought in a long time, but this week I took the time to go back and read the Act since it has been changed.

After reading the Act yesterday, I am surprised their is so much controversy over it.  To many folks it is either a draft or amnesty.

To the amnesty camp, all I have to say is these kids were brought here as children.  Give them a break!

The the draft camp- come on!  This is a legitimately good plan.  Thousands of American citizens decide to enter the military for the benefits is affords them, this act will give illegal immigrant children those same benefits plus citizenship.  Where is the problem?

Anywho, if you have the time check out the latest episode of True Life on MTV.  It covers the lives of a border cop, Minute Man, and 22 yr old illegal immigrant brought here by his parents, who had work visas, when he was seventeen months old.
