United States vs. Illinois

September 26, 2007

I guess Illinois is not going to make it onto ProAmerica’s Directory.  Now that the United States Government is suing Illinois, the fact that state employers are prohibited from using the system that checks a persons work status is guaranteed to become common knowledge.  Before today, I had no clue that Blagojevich even passed the law.

I read about the pilot program and I don’t see a reason for blocking its use, other than to allow illegal immigrants the opportunity to work.

Here’s why this pisses me off.  Several years ago a family member had their identity stolen.  If this has ever happened to you or someone you know, you understand what a nightmare your life becomes because of it.  Imagine finding out that you are being hit with penalties from the IRS for not reporting all your income, that there is a system in place to stop people from using stolen or fake Social Security numbers.  The system works fine, it just wasn’t used- leaving you to clean up yet another mess.

 Why take two steps backwards?

Here’s the press release.
